This is the starting task of the 25th Anniversary. You can obtain it from Alta the Frightened in Crescent reach at /way -11661.74,-1472.63,-54,14. She is also on the Find tool (Ctrl+F).
You say, 'Hail, Alta the Frightened' Alta the Frightened says, 'No, no... they feel all [wrong].' You say, 'What is wrong?' Alta the Frightened says, 'The baby dragons. They are everywhere, but they are also... [not here]. Their nonexistent presence is an affront to our great Mother Veeshan.' You say, 'What do you mean not here?' Alta the Frightened says, 'Exactly that! Other things about it are off as well. Colors. Voices. Things are wrong! I swear it. It wasn't just me, there was [another].' You say, 'Another who saw the baby dragons?' Alta the Frightened says, 'He preceded the not-dragons, yet spoke endlessly of them. It is probably why he was in Crescent Reach. To [find them]...' You say, ''Find them'? But there a lot of dragons here already.' Alta the Frightened says, 'He muttered something about the gnolls, that maybe the gnolls were shown them.' His eyes widen. 'Shown them! Shown them as I have been shown them. The gnolls may know more! It is all wrong... Will you [look for him]?' You say, 'I can look for him.' You have been assigned the task 'Chasing What's Not Real'. Alta the Frightened says, 'Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you...' Visions of dragons, baby dragons, have been spotted. A fearful Drakkin has requested your assistance in unreaveling this mystery. Alta stated a gentleman was muttering about dragons, and that perhaps the gnolls were shown his vision.
This step was very vague and took me just blind luck clicking on objects on the ground in areas where gnolls are near where the baby dragons are at which I found in Blackburrow. In Blackburrow at /way 80, -193 in one of the little cubby areas on the way to Everfrost peaks there is a small hatchet on the ground. Loot it. They respawn quickly. This axe was discarded quickly, and touching it pushes an echo through your mind: A swing. The axe failed to meet its target, yet there was no fault in the aim. Another swing, another failed connection. Did the blade pass through the small dragon? Beside the axe is a small twig of Luclin-daylight origin, yet not wild. Cultivated, perhaps? What an odd find. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The axe found in Blackburrow provided the following echo: Another vague step. This is found in Sanctus Seru in an area where there is a walk way with some bushes and some guards in the northwest part of the zone, you'll see a baby dragon. The plant you are looking for is the smallest out of the all in the southeast corner of that area at /way 441, 564, 60. The plant looks like it has blue flowers in it and almost blends into the grass. Click on it to get the update. This bush is out of place compared to the others, its colors counter the uniform appearance of the rest of the Sanctus Seru park. Touching the bush sends another echo, reverberating: Was he intoxicated, or was it just the visions of dragons? This bush, its colorful branches would make an absolutely glorious bouquet. Branches? In a bouquet? It shall be offered to the dragons. The bloody wine cork beneath the bush seems out of place for Sanctus Seru. Where would someone serve wine like blood? Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The mismatched bush in Sanctus Seru provided the following echo: This step is in Dreadspire Keep at /way 3486, 4, 102 in the dining room on a big table. It's a bottle of wine. The deep red color of this wine makes it difficult to determine if the wine is of the vine or of the vein. It doesn't appear to be the only one present at this dinner party, a popular vintage amongst its mixed company of living and not-so-living. Yet, it too holds an echo, far more faint than the others: Dragons? In Mayong's own Norrathian stronghold? Babies, how mad! It's time to get ready for a dinner party. Mistmoore Hostess says, 'Oh, that's not for YOU, silly. That was saved for our friend. Our friend. Our friend. Our friend with the dragons. Why did he have dragons?' She suddenly gets very angry, eyes alight with madness. 'Dragons aren't allowed here!' Mistmoore Hostess says, 'Dragons, dragons, dragorn, dragorn. The friend was going to pay them for something. One gold coin for... dragons? Dragons. Our friend. Into the bloooooooodfields.' Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The blood wine in Mayong's Dreadspire Keep provided the following echo: This is found in the Omens of War zone The Bloodfields. You'll see the baby dragon going back and forth. What you're looking for is a gold coin ground spawn on the top of a wall near a spire portion in the middle of the zone. Not the top bridge you port in on. Go to /way 611, -150, -824 This coin isn't Kuuan in nature, but rather Norrathian. Not only that, but general issue, albeit old. Why is it discarded, and here of all places? Yet touching the coin brings forth another echo: He thought maybe, just maybe, with large enough spires, someone might be able to teleport to more dragons. Yet even some of the largest spires have driven men like Greig crazy. Perhaps the great spires of Luclin have answers. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The Norrathian gold coin in the Kuuan Bloodfields provided the following echo: This step updates in Mons Letalis on top of the platform in the south portion. You'll see a baby dragon there. Nearby is a box you click on at /way 21, 523, 204 These spires did not survive the attempts made to return to teleport prior. An echo rings through a specific fragment on the ground: Confusion. The man found nothing but confusion. If not one stone, then another. If not a confused robed man, then a confused Taelosian. Is this all a GAME to you? Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. This step updates in Riwwi, Coliseum of Games in the north part of the zone in the tunnels and in the northwest corner. There is a jail cell and a rock in it at /way 757, 204, -35, click on it. Iniba the Confused says, 'I am not the dragon. I am not the white robed man. Maybe the Heroes preceded the dragons? Did Veeshan seed them that way? He seeks wings of his own creation. A child's tailoring plan will send him to the sky, or crashing to the waters of the Free Port.' Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The Stone of Confusion within the coliseum of Riwwi on Taelosia provided the following echo: This step updates in East Freeport at the tailoring shop of the Tanner's. There are some boxes back behind them, a scroll sits on the back of one, click on it. The tailoring pattern for dragon-like wings looks like it could have been a valid option, but there's no leather materials on Norrath that would safely keep anyone aloft, not even a small light gnome. The pattern holds an echo of something that came before: Imbued. It should be imbued! Large dragon scales would never do, but smaller ones... The largescale dragon death in certain areas of Kunark should have something deep within ancient tunnels. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The tailoring pattern for dragon's wings found within Eastern Freeport provided the following echo: This step updates in Field of Bone, the location is on the west side of the zone in an underground area. You'll see a bowl laying on the ground near an altar at /way 430, 2951, -79 click on it. The basket might have at one point held dragon scales, yet it has been emptied recently. Someone got to it before you could. The man in the white robe? Touching the basket relays an echo: The moon. The silvery moon. Drinal calls in the silence of a divided Shar Vahl. A letter left in haste in an empty room, never reaching its destination. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: The empty basket of dragon scales, found in the Field of Bone on Kunark, provided the following echo: Go to Shar Vahl, Divided (ToL) to /way -335, 472, -159. You're looking for a scroll on the table that has one chair in the far southwest building in the city up on the 2nd floor in the west room. The scroll is an actual item this time so it will go into your inventory, right click it while you're in Shar Vahl, Divided, it won't work it you click it in other zones. This paper looks to be from a Drinal adherent begging for a leave of absence from their priestly duties to find the source of all dragons. The echo appears trapped within the page. Taking it to Alta might shed some answers. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. You begin casting Examine Clue. Quest Text: The Leave of Absence left by Drinal adherant contains an echo, but it is trapped within its confines. Taking it to Alta might shed some answers. Give Alta the Frightened the Leave of Absence. She gives it back to you. You offered 1 Leave of Absence to Alta the Frightened. You have been given: Leave of Absence Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Alta the Frightened says, 'This... this pointed you back here? Here, really? Drinal is not known to have any attachment to dragons or our Mother Veeshan, so I don't understand. Take this letter to the empty meeting room off the training area. It seems to point there of all places. I'd do it, but... I have seen too much already.' You complete the trade with Alta the Frightened. Quest Text: Take the Leave of Absence to the meeting room just off the training area within Crescent Reach. It should unlock the echo. This step is still in Crescent Reach. Go to /way -1417, -883, 35 which is on the 2nd floor in far southwest big room. Stand in the middle and right click the Leave of Absence scroll. A man in a white robe and a bunch of baby dragons spawns and walks away. He disappears and the step updates. You begin casting Examine Clue. One... two... five... So many visions of baby dragons converge upon you. A vision of a white robed man, wielding a scythe, walks away and his laughter won't stop. It keeps going. It keeps ringing through. Laughter, dragons, laughter, dragons, it is madness. Madness. Madness. Madness. Madness until it is gone, like a blink, and you are left with the Combine sigil of Tsaph Katta in your mind. Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Quest Text: Madness. This step updates in Katta Castellum at /way --302, 151, 69 in the big building behind the hedges. You're looking for Ghrald McMannus which is on the 2nd floor of that building in one of the south rooms. He is on the find tool CTRL F. Hail him. You say, 'Hail, Ghrald McMannus' Ghrald McMannus furrows his brow as he turns his attention from Gaius towards the adventurer. 'You're here about the [visions] of dragons, yes?' You say, 'What are the visions?' Ghrald McMannus says, 'My friend here, Gaius, is the originator of those insistent visions. The man has always been obsessed with dragons, but I thought it a rather healthy obsession, if there ever is one. Now... he is summoning them into being, and by seeing them before him, he's feeding his visions further. Gaius [doesn't know] he's doing it.' You say, 'He doesn't know? What's going on?' Ghrald McMannus says, 'I fear it's brought on by [the gods] themselves.' You say, 'The gods? Really?' Your task 'Chasing What's Not Real' has been updated. Ghrald McMannus, friend of Gaius Lucianus who is facing and distributing these visions of dragons through his obsession, appreciates you finding them and has requested your help. Perhaps you both can get to the bottom of what is going on with Gaius. You receive 5 silver . You receive 2 gold . You receive 2 platinum . You received 10 Commemorative Coins. Ghrald McMannus says, 'It has all the markings of interference by the gods: the sudden onset of symptoms, the potency of the visions, and the fact they are sticking around when my friend is no illusionist. However, the deity source is unknown. Let me think for a moment; I might have some ideas and need some help from you.' This leads to the next task, Chasing Madness, obtained by hailing Ghrald McMannus again. Reward(s): 2 platinum 2 gold 5 silver 10 Commemorative Coins | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
