You say, 'Hail, Ordin Wheasly'

Ordin Wheasly says 'Hello! Boy, I'm glad to see you! I really need your help. Can you help me with some simply [baking tasks]? A ship floats on its belly, you know.'

You say, 'What baking tasks?'

Ordin Wheasly says 'Wayfarers eat far more than their fair share. It's just about impossible to keep up with them! I'd really like some help baking some of the basic foods so that I can spend my time thinking up new uses for this wonderful wild grain that has been descovered on Taelosia. I've named it Taelosian [Wheat], but I suppose that the natives might have some other name for it. Can you be of any [assistance] to me?'

You say, 'What Wheat?'

Ordin Wheasly says 'It's wonderful! I haven't had as much time to try it in some of my favorite recipes, but I have done a little taste-testing and it's very good. It even has some magical properties that I'm still trying to figure out. It does require some special treatment when making the flour, but I've figured that out. If you bring me some Taelosian Wheat, I'd gladly grind it for you. I'd just keep a bit of it for my efforts.'

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

If your skill is already too high, Ordin can still learn you the recipes, see below.

Ordin Wheasley says 'Great! Right now what I need is some oatmeal prepared for meals that we need to serve right away. This is a simple task and may be too easy for you, but those folks are hungry. Just take this Oatmeal and Hot Water and mix it in your mixing bowl. Bring the finished Oatmeal to me right away. If you help me with the many tasks that I have to get done, I might be willing to share with you the secret of grinding the Taelosian Wheat into flour.'

You receive 20 x Hot Water and 20 x Oatmeal. Combine 1 of each in a Mixing Bowl.

You have learned the recipe Ordin's Oatmeal!

Ordin's Oatmeal trivials at 31. After doing each set of 20 combines, hand them back to Ordin unstacked, up to four at a time. After handing them all in, say "I can be of assistance" again and he will give you more Ordin's Oatmeal components until he feels you've made enough (approximately 100).

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

Ordin Wheasly says 'Yes! Wayfarer's Muffins are probably our most popular traveling food. And folks passing through here are always traveling. If you could take a hunk of dough and a single dose of Wayfarer Surpize and put them in the oven, I would be grateful. Hmmm? Oh, no, I can't really tell you what's in the Wayfarer's surprize. Please bring the muffins back to me as fast as you can, we're always running out.'

You receive 20 x Hunk of Dough and 20 x Wayfarer Surprise. Combine 1 of each in an oven or spit.

You have learned the recipe Wayfarer Muffin!

Wayfarer Muffin trivials at 38. After doing each set of 20 combines, hand them back to Ordin unstacked, up to four at a time. After handing them all in, say "I can be of assistance" again and he will give you more Wayfarer Muffin components until he feels you've made enough (approximately 100).

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

Ordin Wheasly says 'Good! We're trying to stock up for dinner. We usually serve a lot of Wayfarer Pie. It's sort of a pie surprize! If you could run over to the oven and bake up a Hunk of Dough, Wayfarer Pie Tin and Wayfarer Surprise into a nice, tasty pie, that would be great! Bring the pies to me when you're done. No, I'm still not going to tell you what the surprize is.'

You receive 20 x Hunk of Dough, 20 x Wayfarer Pie Tin, and 20 x Wayfarer Surprise. Combine 1 of each in an oven or spit.

You have learned the recipe Wayfarer Pie!

Wayfarer Pie trivials at 46. After doing each set of 20 combines, hand them back to Ordin unstacked, up to four at a time. After handing them all in, say "I can be of assistance" again and he will give you more Wayfarer Pie components until he feels you've made enough (approximately 100).

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

Ordin Wheasly says 'You have been a big help! I think I can trust you to make some dessert for these ruffians. I need a lot of pastries, or who knows what they might do! Just take this Hunk of Dough and a Dab of Frosting and pop them in the oven! Bring them back piping hot, please!'

You receive 20 x Hunk of Dough and 20 x Dab of Frosting. Combine 1 of each in an oven or spit.

You have learned the recipe Wayfarer Pastry!

Wayfarer Pastry trivials at 54. After doing each set of 20 combines, hand them back to Ordin unstacked, up to four at a time. After handing them all in, say "I can be of assistance" again and he will give you more Wayfarer Pastry components until he feels you've made enough (approximately 100).

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

Ordin Wheasly says 'You've been a big help around the kitchen! I wouldn't feel right about continuing to abuse your kindness.' Ordin glances around. 'Take a quick peek at my recipe book. This is the way you grind Taelosian Wheat into flour.' He quickly shows you the last pages of his coveted recipe book. It only takes you a moment to see what the trick is. From now on, all you have to do is put the Taelosian Wheat or Taelosian Mountain Wheat into your mixing bowl and combine it to get the flour. In fact, you are certain that if you work at it long enough, you can produce more usable wheat with practice.

If your skill is high enough, Ordin can still learn you the recipes.

You say, 'I can be of assistance.'

He only gives out a single stack of hot water and wheat, each. Skilled up to 31 on that first batch but won't give next step after turning in. He won't give more ingredients to make more Oats until you turn in the ones you have made. Have repeated this and handed in over 200 but he still won't progress to the next step.

Doing the task for Odin, and the other freebie task ( in Abysmal Sea ) is easy way to get you skill level up to 50. This is a great way to start trade skills, because you do not have to pay for the supplies. You make the combines, turn them in, and once you a finished with all of the things each merchant asks you to help with, your at 50 in said skill. Now Each time you get the stacks of supplies you my miss or may not as with any trade skill combine. So if you are just starting out in the skill don't be frustrated to much it will happen. I learned this: you don't always make just 100 of the combine there are times were it may be more, and may be less. Depends on merchant you are helping at the time. So good luck with the free skill tasks and there well worth it. Because if you don't do them you cannot do the god skill combines.

The mainpart of this guy is, that you get 2 pieces of flour for 1 wheat. Anytime.
Additionally is, that one recieves after asking him what assitance he needs a recipe book with some special recipes. The book calls "Tuna is great!". with this book you get your first 2 stacks to bake.

One more Thing I forgot to mention; to Tradeskill verterans skip this post:

When doing combines for the first time, do them manually if the recipie does not appear in your "expanded" kit.

Once you have successfully created the item you have "learned" the recipie. Open your expanded kit; in the "Search" box type the first few letters of the item you are making such as "Wayfarers Muffins" [enter Wayf} press search, all your knowledge of items with "Wayf" will show up in a list. Click on the item you want to make:
"Wayfarers Muffins"
You will see the icon(s) for the required ingredients appear to the right of the list. If you have the items in question then the icons will appear GREEN; if you are missing any those icons will appear RED. You must have the items on your person to do the combines (NOT IN THE BANK EVEN IF YOU ARE BANKING).

BELOW the icons is a button labeled Combine. Pressing this will combine the ingredients saving you all the clicks of individually placing the items in your kit. THE Great thing about this feature is that if your Kit is full of unrelated stuff, you can still do the combine without emptying it out. Saves a lot of headache on storage management.
----
Below the Combine button is one labeled "Auto Inventory" again a real timesaver, but when doing these quests, it is much easier to do them in front of the NPC and just hand each completed item to them, when the hand in boxes are full press give and continus on to the next four.
---
It is kinda hard to explain without showing you the kits, but I have made an effort to be clear.
___
MINOR ISSUE: If your Kit does not open up to the "Expanded" version use control key, r key and Right click the kit; this will open it expanded, and then on the second click, un-expanded.

Hi there, this quest is outstanding for those of you who, Achem... have never seen the need to do tradeskills, and suddenly feel like you have been left behind....

You can get to level (apx 50 for most of these tradeskill quests) wspending a plat.. just a lot of time. What I do is when I have downtime necessary to med, or wait for a LDON group or anything, I head up here and do combines so that my downtime is productive.

TIP: Instead of doing all combines and THEN handing them to the appropriate NPC, just do each combine, and hand it to the NPC Immediately.

NOTE: This is not based upon the number of "Successful" combines you make, each different item you are creating will have 5 stacks period, despite the number of successful items made. I have been keeping track, and even tho I was only able to make 76 of a particular item (yeah mad high fail rate for my chanter) I was moved to the next item to create after 5 stacks were combined. This is consistant despite which character I am using, or my success rate.

NOTICED: One thing I noticed is that when doing these tradeskills, even on a character at tradeskill level 0 for that skill, My "knowledge" of "recipies" seems full of the basic items.
-- Unlike prior to doing this quest while maxxing my jewelry craft each new "combine" I tried added the recipie to my knowledge base. When doing these quests however, the original basic recipies are already in my kit... I can't tell you if this is due to the recent upgrade/expansion, or if it is a property of this quest. I SUSPECT that it is a quest property however because my Enchanter had no "Knowledge" of any Vellium Jewelry items when working on Vellium jewelry in Thurgadin about 2 days prior to doing this quest; and during the quest I was able to view all Vellium recipies. Cool eh?

The oven is outside the building at loc -72, 164, 113 but it's far easier to buy the spit and hand the combines directly to Ordin.

FYI,

Ordin and his lady friend are standing in front of what looks like a grill. Guess what? Smiley: oyvey

It was hard to target for some reason, but I used it for the combines. It is an oven.Smiley: wink2

On the grill in front of Ordin lies 3 pitchfork looking items. You click on one of those fork handles to use the oven.

Well, this is a great quest; but on 10/28, what was updated about it? Longest part is handing finished parts back to Ordin; at least, biggest lull. The lil "doo diddle-duh doo DUHH!" trumpet helps. :)

Edt: I've heard it counts as 400 all together, like you make a few extra oatmeals, you gotta do a few less of the next. You do 104 this, 102 that, you jus gotta do 96 of next. (2 + 4 = 6, 100 - 6 = 96) Oh I found what the update was; posts got wiped!
