Just to the south of the Kejekan Village in a small grassy area with two trees spawns a spirit. This spirit is a level 1 shadow knight type creature that is on Paineel Heretics faction.

You say, 'Hail, a spirit'

a spirit flares brightly as you attempt to speak with it. By listening very closely you're brely able to make out it's frantic whispering. It keep refering to one of the Kejekans, one that apparently slew him as
he attempted to cleanse the land of them. It wants nothing more than to destroy who killed him, but it cannot in this [form].

You say, 'What form?'

a spirit flares brightly again as it explains there isn't enough time for it to explain. It then begins to whisper again, telling you that it commands you the aid it in it's revenge. You make out, through the barely audible whispering, that if you do help it, you will be rewarded.

You say, 'I will help you get revenge'

a spirit whispers that he will need to become whole again before he can defeat the fool animal that slew him. The spirit admits to one mistake before coming here to wipe the Kejekans. In an earlier campaign, he lost a very powerful weapon. That weapon would enable him to take on a form likened to his former self. If you return this weapon to the spirit, and then help him to defeat his enemy, the reward will be yours.

You say, 'What earlier campaign?'

a spirit seems hesitant to go into details and reacts harshly when asked further. He does say that he went to enlist an army of lesser beings to do it's bidding, but they refused. The spirit scoffs and says they believed the lord they shared favored them more than it. It goes on, explaining their utter foolishness and eventual demise in great detail.

Go to the Temple of Cazic Thule and slay A Lizard Ritualist that spawns on the small pyramid in the maze. Loot the Grimy Lance - 17dmg, 48dly 2hand piercer with a blank effect. When identified, the result is Item Lore: you sense a hiddin power within.

Return to Stonebrunt and give the Grimy Lance to a spirit.

a spirit says 'Yes, the lance!' and begins to glow as it draws power from the lance, which now floats in mid air next to the spirit. The form of the spirit expands and takes on a humanoid shape. The air itself then seems to condense about the spirit as bits of matter appear within the glowing form. The bits soon take the shape of bones and ropes of muscle. Within minutes, an emaciated Erudite male stands before you. Despite his frail appearance, he stands upright and strong, a fierce red light burning in his eyes.

You gain experience!!

Receive an Idol of Fear.

Ridossan the Unliving spawns, will run up to the village, and then despawns.

At this point, kill Disciple Okarote inside the Kejekan Village. When she dies, the ghost of Ridossan will spawn and say that he is not long for this world and he wants to reward the one who helped him reap his revenge and asks for the totem that he has given you. The ghost will despawn in roughly one minute so move quickly.

Give Ghost of Ridossan the Idol of Fear.

Ghost of Ridossan takes the idol into his spectral hand and shoves the lance into your arms. After letting go of the lance, the ghost immediately begins to fade away. Before it is gone completely, it looks into your eyes and says, 'Suffer.'

Ghost of Ridossan is only up for 60 seconds before despawning. If you do not hand in your Idol of Fear in time, all you have to do is kill Disciple Okarote again (respawn time 13 min) to spawn another ghost.

2nd text from Ridossan

Not seen this text from him before:

Ridossan the Unliving gazes upon his lance and begins to laugh maniacally. He says, 'AH HAH! I am corporeal once more! I cannot hold this form for long, but it will be long enough for me to rip open that flea brothel and..well, I wont spoil it for you, heheheheh. Come! Assist me in the attack on the Kejekan village! The one that wears the iron beads must die at my hands and NO OTHER! Just make sure I get to him and you will be rewarded.'

I don't see Ghost of Ridossan as a mob in the zone list of mobs.

If one is added I can upload a pic.

Need to change the instructions below. The Lizard Spiritualist is in Feerrott not CT.

Go to the temple of Cazic Thule and slay the Lizard Spiritualist that spawns on the small pyramid in the maze. Loot from him the Grimy Lance - 17dmg, 48dly 2hand piercer with a blank effect. When identified, the result is Item Lore: you sense a hiddin power within.

Quote:
(Despite the text, there is no new NPC present in the vicinity that I could find, but you recieve an Idol of Cazic Thule - Magic Item, Lore Item, No Drop. No stats all/all)

When you turn in the lance, the spirit de-spawns and spawns 'Riddossan the Unliving' he casts a buff or two on himself, and summons a pet. There is some text but I didnt get to write it down. He then runs up towards the Kejekan Village. He despawns once inside it. Then you can kill the Disciple as per the quest above.

Beware nad spiritualist location

The location recorded for the "a spirit" to spawn is correct - just to the west of the westernmost of the 2 trees just south of the village.

I am currently scowling to heretic faction but decided to try invis (which gives you indifferent). Spirit took my lance and aid thanks very much. So make sure of your faction! Currently killing every kobold that moves!

The Tae Ew Spiritualist is at the northern tip of the triangular shaped piece of land between the fork in the river in FEERROTT not CT as mentioned in some places.

I did the final part of this quest twice at 35 lvl, solo. Yes it can be done. Getting the grimey was easy, and good ep. I was mainly concerned about actually turning it in and killing the deciple guy. Well it all comes down to how good your feign death works. First atempt, i went an got a temp in pok, gave me a lil over 2k hp. I went in the village invis, and slapped the deciple guy with spear of disease and ran like a fool, did the fd thing to no avail and got pounded. So i went back, got my bod and jus did self buffs, figuring that if this didnt work id go get help. Went in the village and pulled with a life tap, ran like a fool an this time fd worked. stood up and started whackin for all i was worth. Pretty easy kill at 35 lvl.

My fisrt attempt..
# Dec 09 2002 at 6:32 AM Rating: Decent
I've just attempted this quest for the first time (indeed there WILL be a second attempt), and heres my experience.

The grimy lance is a given for any SK who have quested their decayed drops for darkforge armor as grimys drop from the Tae Ew Spiritualist primary dropper of decayed armour pieces. So having my grimy and a map i set out to Stonebrunt. the "A Spirit" as stated by those before me is next to the two trees at the southern base of the hill/mountain the kejekian villiage is on, I found it easily from previous post descriptions, looks like a red willow-wisp.

When i gave A Spirit the grimy i got a cazic-thule idol (not exact name but i will edit when i check it) and Riddosan's Spirit (looks like ya traditional erudite SK)immediately spawned and started buffing himself including summoning a pet. It was pretty cool i picked vampiric embrace and grim aura as spells he cast.

Having a moment or two i sit to mem a spell or two i think i might need shortly and get myself aggroed a some kinda panda dark blu to me. I defeat the panda relativly easily but about thirty seconds b4 i finish Riddosan's Spirit declares i should follow him and aid in the slaughter of the kejekian's villiage or words to that effect, and he heads up the hill to the villiage. Thrity second later I finish killing the bear (damn the gods of bad timing) and invis up and head up the hill and found that i got to the villiage about the same time as Riddosan did despit leaving close to a minute behind him. I walked into the middle of town from the north side and he happened across my path (or i on his)on his way to Okarote and i simply followed him to the right hut. When we entered the hut (the ghost of ol' riddo and I) intent on some killing, Okarote attacked riddo's ghost but the others in the room (about 5) did not appear to, getting a bit ahead of myself I decide heres my opportunity and proceed to aid Riddosan only to realise after Okarote and all other kejeks have turned their attention to me now my Invis dropped that Riddosan despite all his buffs is not actually attacking anything. Needless to say thats pretty much the end of my FIRST go at this quest a CR coming up at least i have my idol now so i just need to kill Okarote gonna try FD pull him to outside the villiage and run back in to hand in idol. Ill post a more organised edit to this at some point

Edit: second attempt, heres what i learnt the idol is no rent but no rent items dont poof if they're on your corpse when you log. Log back on do CR bingo NO RENT item still on corpse to be looted. 130 Abjuration not enough for me to rely on feign death pull (damn wish i spent more time casting that endure cold speel when is was lvl 9). Gonna need a group to do this with primary concern on Crowd control as I couldn't get Okarote out of the villiage without at least 5 others after me as well as the disciple. I recommend that there be at least one enchanter and one druid for CC if aiming to do with approx lvl 40 group The mobs that attack are not that tough individually but when youre swarmed by 6 of them when you solo ....LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.......

Most importantly do NOT bind yourself in paineel city proper, bind in the paineel noobie zone. If you die you will find yourself back in paineel while the LORE "bone crafted key" used to get in and out of paineel sits happily on your corpse 2 zones away. unless someone else is in paineel zone who has their key with them you will be stuck in paineel with no way to operate the elevator to get out. Right now im waiting for a guildie to arrive from the other side of Norrath, (Odus not the most frequented Place in the world)

Ill let you know how the third attempt goes, This time with bunch of guildie firepower in tow

For the key, you can request another key from the guard even if you have one on your corpse.

Makes travelling through the warrens much easier on a CR when you have a lightsource. ;)

The first time I read about this quest, I noticed it was for level 25 and up, I figured heck I was lvl 22 and with a little luck I could do it to. Well needless to say it can be done but much help is needed and thankfully I have a great guild and got it at level 24. So before I start I would like to thank Scallup (49 druid), Elfvira (52 druid), Joyful (34 druid and both her cleric and ranger alts) and Luminie (46 wizard), who were all involved in helping me comlpete the quest along with several guild memebers who lent moral support. On to the pertinent details, being a human SK of Innoruuk, I started out KOS to Heretics and spent the better part of 20 hours or more killing kobolds to hit amaible, I am not sure how many I slew but it was definitely in the range of 500 or more. After getting the appropriate faction it was off to 'the Feerrott' where I staked out a cozy spot at the 3 spawn at the end of the Island and after 10 PH's and about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, the Spiritualist finally popped and dropped the Grimy Lance. At this point I called it night. The next day it was off to Stonebrunt to find the spirit. As near as I could tell, the spawn location is slightly to the right of the 2 trees almost due south of the village, the 'a spirit' spawned twice in that exact location, it was red in color. I turned in the Grimy Lance and got the Idol. Then things got ugly, Riddosan the Unliving spawned then summoned his pet and took a disliking to the Druid who was with me at the time, the druid took him off to be kited somewhere and left me on my own, being that I was lvl 24 (barely) I got whupped by a cat or an ape I forget which, the druid then goes on to kill Riddosan and he drops the grimy lance, which If I hadn't died I could have looted to do the quest again, oh well. I get rezzed after a bit more hassle, then we make first attempt to kill the disciple, Harmony/Snare works like a charm and he goes down, the Ghost pops and I don't get to him in time as I was doing the kill, same thing happens again only this time aggro happens and I almost die so don't get to the ghost, finally on the 3rd try, I sit in the stupid tent where the disciple is pulled from (I still conned dubious to the villagers), the ghost popped, I turned in the Idol and received the Soulfiend Lance in return. This is my tale of the Lance, I hope it helps someone.

Disciple Okarote...

...is anywhere between 30 and 38. Red to me at 27, and dark blue to a 39 that was nearby. The quest info needs to be updated so folks like me don't get stuck trying to do a quest they can't complete.

Luckily, I decided to /con Okarote before turning in the lance. Now, at least I can keep using the Grimy Lance for a while...
took him down at 41
# Aug 20 2002 at 8:03 AM Rating: Decent
Took two tries at 41 -

First try I figured I'd just fight it out with him and then FD as soon as I'd killed him - no good - other cats will heal him and there was atleast one, possibly two light blues helping in the fight to boot.

Second try I simply went up and started clearing the village one cat at a time till I had a safety zone around the hut he was in, then I started pulling the hut - eventually I got him and one of his buddies, but that was it - finished the two of them and then had an easy time turning in the idol for the spear.

Just as a note, the ghost didn't run to the village for me - he went tearing off towards god knows where in the zone - finally said to heck with it and just headed back to the village.

If you don't see the spirit, don't worry - the local mobs will kill the spirit if they see it - it has about a 15 minute spawn cycle and looks like a red/orange willowisp. If you stand between the trees and look south, it spawns near the tree to the right partly down the hill - it's green as all heck, only can take one or two pops from a kobold - had the suckers cut it out from under me three times - sigh.

As was said, the guy's spirit does spawn now when you give him the spear - he was dark blue to me at 41 and he took the time to summon a pet as well - he's on Paineel faction, so if you have help, make sure everyone helping is atleast dubious - a mid to high 30s NPC SK is no joke.
how to pull Disciple Okarote.
# Jun 26 2002 at 5:57 PM Rating: Default
If your a monk and tring to get a nice wep for your sk this is how you pull the Disciple outa the hut with out his friends to heal him, im kos to kitties so i just sneak into the village behind all the cats so they leave me alone, go behind the guy's hut and run into the wall behind him and sit down, so your head pops threw the wall behind the disciple, that aggros him to run out of the hut behind the hut after you, now ether you can get all cats in the hut with him or just him, if you get all the cats with him just fd and stand back up when his friends leave to just get him. fight him here and mabye two cats will heal him when he is really low oh health but if your good enough shouldnt be a problem, sneak back into the hut behind guards; sneak around the cats in hut, take off sneak, hand in idol of fear to the ghosty man who laughs at his own jokes and your spent. if you dont wanna fight him behind building you can also run outside some place ;fd and stand up.

Two things: 1. Yes, Gnomes can use this lance.

2. Riddosan The Unliving now spawns and charges the Kejek village. I don't know if he helps with Okarote or not, because a bunch of stupid lightlovers were camping at the Kejek Village entrance and he wiped 'em all out except one, who ran off. We assume Riddosan was killed, but if you pull Okarote out of the village and whack him like everyone else states, the ghost will still spawn and you can hand him the Idol. So the quest hasn't changed, but now everyone who's helping with Okarote needs to be at least dubious to Paineel faction (Otherwise Riddosan will agg 'em.) He's blue to 40.

Where does the Lizard Spiritualist spawn now that Cazic Thule is changed so much? Out in the Ferrott I suppose, but does anyone have any information on where?

Thanks,

The Ritualist no longer spawns, he has been replaced with the Spiritualist that spawns at the 3 spawn at the fork in the river outside CT. The camp also spawns the Silvered Guard and the Radiant. The Spiritualist drops the grimy lance and decayed armor just like the Ritualist.

The info on who drops it is incorrect, it is not a Lizard Spiritualist it is the Ritualist. And from all information i have gathered he is still inside Cazic-Thule. I have looked thru the Feerrott and talked to others who hunt the lizards and all have pointed to the fact that he must still be inside.

BTW theres like 4 or five sleeping cats in there and a light bluish guy outised the whistlere or something and anyhow, thinkin that greens wont agro on me ( they didnt in Warrens, but then again they are like 20 levels below me) cast engulf dark and all HELL broke loose!! i ran to the gates with 6 greens and Disciple and Meowmix Whistler guy and well i put up the good fight i alas died. Getting a few peeps to help is MANDATORY. O well back to CT i guess the idol is no rent and i dont feel like going back to my bloasted body today.

One thing that you can do to find "a spirit" is to use the "sense the dead" spell he will be trackable that way. Tried to do this last night as a DE SK and he was threating to me. Only way that I might be able to do this is to work on faction by killing MOB's in the Warrens or having a friend of mine help me with it. Going to go for the first option of working on faction cause I hate not being able to do the quests on my own if I can.

hope this helps somehow.

I did this quest twice on Morell-Thule, once 10/6/01 and then again on 10/8/01 (heh gave my first one to my RL friends L25 Sk)...Definately get a L40 or higher to assist you as i did, me being a L36 DE Sk.
Did it first with a L46 rogue and a L21 rogue (both guildmates), i Had a Grimy Lance on hand from my Darkforge questing in Cazic so once i killed enough Kobolds in Warrens to be amiable to the spirit i dragged my guildmates out to stonebrunt and sat waiting for the spirit to appear almost a hour exactly ( which puzzled me because i have seen him before several times, Perhaps he had been killed), when he appeared i followed the guide posted here exactly for the quest text exchange and on turning in the grimy lance got the expected idol.....at that point a genuine L36 erudite Sk spawned and paused there several seconds before rushing off in the direction of Kitty town, we didnt follow so i do not know what became of him. Now at this point we moved to the top of the Hill that makes the west side of the kitty town and the L46 being acceptable to the kitties was able to pull out the Disciple alone with no problem, Killed it and then i invised ( being KoS to the Cats ) ran in and handed in my idol to the ghost of riddossan ( who had spawned in the Disciples place) and got my long waited for reward, and this lance is great !.And do expect to be Mobbed at this point( since your invis will go down) if you are KoS already or Apprehensive before killing the Disciple !!!. getting away from them wasnt too much trouble with feign death.
Second time went same as the first except it was me and a L40 ranger (the main char. of the friend i gave my first lance too). this time no erudite Sk spawned but other than that everything went smoothly and as expected all in all a very enjoyable quest and reward.
Heh being a DE makes one used to Faction building so while slaying all the Kobolds was time consuming it was still worth the reward and btw Kobolds also raised my faction enough so that i can bank in Paineel.

I just did this quest this morning (10/14/01) with the help of a lower lvl erudite necro, he handed in the lance and Ridossan the Unliveing poped. Like you i had NO clue this would happen till i remembered the quest talking about the flesh returning to his bones and all that, so i figured if they poped this guy into the quest they may have made the cat guy take a walk or something for the guys who are kos. well he runs way way way out to about the head of the road that leads to the cat village, then up the road and eventualy into the cat village (shouting stuff at the cats) bust into the hut and stands there. you the quest hasn't really changed, just poped this guy in for story line reasons and he leads you to the cat. 1 thing i'm wondering about though, Riddo the Unliveing has a lance when he pops, wonder if its the Grimy still, the Soulfeind or something else. also, as of a few days ago, this gets a damage bonus

Here is my experience with getting the Soulfiend lance.

My guildmate who is a 31 SK wanted to get the Soul Lance. Unfortunately his faction wiht the spirit wasn't good enough to do the quest. That is when he enlisted me.. the friendly guildmate Enchanter. He gave me the grimey lance to give to "a spirit" (it looks like a red wisp). The spirit spawns in the middle of hte zone just a bit south of the kitty city.

I cast my illsuions and other enchanter spells to get my faction to amiable with the spirit.. then i turned in the grimey lance and he gave me this:

Idol of Fear
No Drop No Rent...

The next step was to kill the kitty disciple in the kitty city. Our first attempt at doing this was highly unsuccesful (me being a 24 enchanter and him a 31 SK). I think we ended up training the whole city on ourselves. Somehow we boht got away without dying... i gated.. and i dont know how he pulled off surviving.

Anyway.... after our utter failure we enlisted the help of our guilds local L53 magician. We made sure he was in our group. The person who kills the disciple must be grouped with the person with the idol for the Ghost to spawn.

We killed the disciple no problem (I didn't attack just to avoid getting aggroed). The Ghost spawned immeadiately after the death of the disciple right near his corpse. The ghost is KOS to anyone who is KOS with the heretics so watch out.

Before we killed the disciple I cast my illusion erudite spell. As soon as the Ghost spawned it started attacking our L53 Magician. I could not turn the item in to the Ghost while it was being attacked, so I disbanded from the group.

Once disbanded I handed it the Idol and I got the soulfiend lance. (it didnt harmtouch me or anything like someone else said it did)

I had problems handing it the idol though. Be careful since it aggros on anyone who has bad faction with the Heretics. I don't think you can turn in the idol if the ghost is fighting.. so warn any party memebers about that.

Oh... and here are the faction changes

Heretics up
Deepwater Guard (guards in erudin) down
Craftkeepers down
Gatecallers down
one other faction down

The last 3 factions are all the casters guilds in the palace of Erudin. I am now dubious to them, i think i was indifferent or amaible before so use caution there.

I wouldnt attempt this quest without the help of someone L40 plus. If i remember right the kitty disciple was around L35. At that level you will end up training 1/2 the kejan city on yourself. So get help killing him.

That is all I can think of about the quest.

Good luck,

The following is a brief synopsis of my experience with this quest
Day 1:Hailed the spirit as the guide says, spirit said some really nasty things to me so I decided to bring up my heretic faction up to at least Indifferent before trying again.Died by a wandering panda when I broke invis to talk in the first place
Day 2:Killed green kobolds in warrens
Day 3:Killed green kobolds in warrens
Day 4:Killed green kobolds in warrens
Day 5:Did the speach with the spirit realized I needed something from Cazic Thule, spent 2 hours shouting for a TP went there and died once trying to kill the ritualist and 3 more times trying to get my corpse, Finally got someone to give me a lance as they were more worried about DF drops.
Day 6:Spent 3 hours shouting for a TP back to Toxx, finally got there, went to Kat city invis'd to check out where Okarote would spawn only to realize that one of them can see thru or at least dispel my invis and died before I could Feign Death
Day 7:Shouted for 2 more hours before I got someone to drag my corpse out of cat city, shouted for another 5 hours but noone would help me to kill the 2 lvl 35+ mobs for me to do the quest(one is Okarote the other is the one that sees thru my invis Starts with a J but i forget its name)
Day 8:Hunted at SB all night, had no luck finding anyone to help me out with my quest
Day 9:Found someone to help me out right off. Did the spiel with the quest. Handed spirit the lance he DID turn into a Erud SK and then I invisd and followed him to Kat city. The fellow who helped me out (40 Wiz) met up with me and we both went to Kat city to see what was going to happen. Got up to the steps of Kat city, my invis went poof without warning 500 Kats jumped on me and I died. Came back 5 min later to get my corpse(at least I had the totem on it) went Back to the hut, Invis dropped, died again but at least had a chance to die out of the city so I could retrieve my corpse. Got extremely pissed and broke my keyboard in half.
Day 10: Went to CompUSA and got a new keyboard.
Day 11: Got all my stuff , got a TP to S Ro, ran to EC and bought the damn thing for 175p
Moral of the story here folks: If your a Troll or Ogre SK dont even bother playing Verants twisted games your better than any other character out there and thats enough. If your a lvl 40 druid and want to pharm some phat items for your twinked out lowbie SK that your never gonna play past lvl 10 then by all means this is your quest
Good night and good riddance this is the last time I look to this place for advice

You obviuosly can't read the text. Any moron would have known they needed the Grimy Lance FIRST, and not have had to run back and get it. Second, don't blame your misfortunes on the site that posted the details if you can't even read them. Third, get a life.

Hah - that was a great story - shows one exactly how not to go about doing a quest -

"I needed something from Cazic Thule, spent 2 hours shouting for a TP"

LOL - you could have walked there and back in that time

"died once trying to kill the ritualist and 3 more times trying to get my corpse"

Getting killed fighting this boy is no surprise - it's easy to get swarmed in there, but getting wasted three times on the CR - you did cast invis before going back into the maze, right?

"Spent 3 hours shouting for a TP back to Toxx,"

Could have walked back there in 45 mins or less with SOW.

"Got all my stuff , got a TP to S Ro"

How many hours spent shouting for TP this time? ;)

", ran to EC"

What, no shouting for 5 hours for a port to WC? :D

"bought the damn thing for 175p"

But how long were you shouting "WTB the damn thing!" for? :)

The real moral of the story is make friends and have them help you with stuff like this.

Here is the efficient way to go about this -

Goto CT and aquire lance - if you can't put together a group and you can't handle him yourself, just do the occasional /ooc to let folks know you just want the lance - I've even killed lizards at the enterance on occassion to find that someone has been nice enough to hand it to one of them for folks.

See if you can get a port to Tox - if not, walk if you're 30+ - you can turn invis and enjoy a very exciting sneak through Qeynos and Erudin.

Kill Kobolds in Warrens for about 18 hours non-stop (sadly, he was dead on there). Plus side of this is that you'll be amiable to Paineel and atleast non-KOS in Erudin.

Now that you're amiable to Heretics, goto the bank and grab your lance and let your friends and guildies know that you'll need a small assault team. Have the KOS folks stay back and let you deal with the ghost and head to the cat city. Either have a high level character who won't aggro the whole area single pull the guy you need, or use a combo of mez and harmony spells to pull him, or if you've got someone who can fiegn death well (hopefully yourself by now) just do a fiegn pull to get the guy into a safe area.

Once you've whacked him, go invis into the city and do the turn in, then fiegn your way to safety, or have your team run interference for you.

Now you've got your lance - and it's a pretty nice weapon at that.

Ive never hear of 2h piecing. Does this use your
piecing skill and just not allow anything in your secondary slot?

Yes this item uses your piercing skill and will not allow you to equip anything in your secondary slot...runed othmir spear is the same way, 2h piercing.
