Laurion's Song Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

Prerequisite Quests: They Go Low, We Go Lower

You can obtain this shared task from Thormir Helmsbane in Ankexfen Keep, near the door to Laurion’s Inn. You can find Thormirat /waypoint -128, -106, 35. He is on the find tool as well CTRL F.

You say, 'Hail, Thormir Helmsbane'

Thormir Helmsbane says, 'It's time to direct our efforts toward the prison, Gebb. Ye can approach it from either the tunnel system ye found, or go straight through the Keep. Either way, it'll be dangerous, so keep yer wits about ye. First, we'll have to [find] the group we're lookin' for. The leader was a dwarf by the name o' Hodrick Penning. Gunder's friend, a dwarf named Tarla Tuph, was also among 'em.'

You say, 'How do I find them?'

Thormir Helmsbane says, 'Yer best bet is to ask the other prisoners if they've seen Hodrick or Tarla, or generally any sizable group o' dwarves. Someone is bound to know who yer talkin' about. Once ye've located 'em, come back to me 'n' Gunder and we'll plot the best escape route. Admittedly, the two o' us are not sneaky; ye'd think Gunder had hooves with the noise he makes. We'll hang back for this part.'

You have been assigned the task 'Mutual Assistance'.

Feeling reaffirmed in his convictions, Thormir Helmsbane is ready to breach the prison and find his comrades. It's easier for one person to slip in unnoticed rather than three, so he has asked you to investigate the cells and locate the prisoners. With that information, he, Gunder, and you can plan the perfect escape route for the prisoners.

Thormir suggest that you speak to prisoners to help locate your targets faster.

1. Speak with prisoners to get information 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

Find Geller Mickwiggum in the goblin fort jail cells on the east side of the valley. He is at /way +1153,+169,+449 on the first level down in the jail cells near the south wall.

You say, 'Hail, Geller Mickwiggum'

Geller Mickwiggum says, 'You're looking for a group of dwarves? Hm....' His eyes widen with realization. 'Ah! Yes! I've seen them. Definitely. They were taken by the Ankexfen to... um... oh, a locked room! And, um... this room has a special lock, y'see? It could never be lockpicked by ordinary means. You're in luck, though, because Geller Mickwiggum has just the [thing] you'll need to free them!'

You say, 'What thing?'

Geller Mickwiggum says, 'It's, um... a transmogrifying ring, of course! It's a special invention of mine that can bend into all sorts of shapes. It could definitely pick a tricky lock. The only problem is that the Ankexfen who captured me took it! It said, 'This surprise is grand! A golden ring to decorate my hand.' Then it plucked it from me and slid it on its gnarled finger. You look like the type who could [get it back] for me.'

You say, 'If I get it back, will you help me?'

Geller Mickwiggum says, 'Of course. The goblin who took it was a mean-looking brute with a spear. So, if you fight those lancers, you'll probably [find] the ring eventually. If you bring me that ring, then I can show you where your friends are! You can definitely trust me.'

You say, 'I'll find the ring.'

Geller Mickwiggum says, 'A million thanks to you. No, a billion! No -- a GAZILLION. You have no idea how much this means to me. You really, really have no idea.'

2. Retrieve Geller's transmogrifying ring 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

Geller Mickwiggum needs you to retrieve his transmogrifying ring from one of the Ankexfen lancers.

Kill an Ankexfen lancer until it drops Geller's Transmogrifying Ring.

3. Give back Geller's transmogrifying ring 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

Give the transmogrifying ring back to Geller Mickwiggum.

Geller Mickwiggum tears up as he slides the ring onto his finger. 'I'm sorry... I lied. This isn't a transmogrifying ring; it's my wedding ring. I assumed you wouldn't help me find it unless there was something in it for you.' He wipes away a tear. 'I saw your friends, but I don't know where they went. There's a kobold here who's the only prisoner I've ever seen get marched out, then brought back alive. It might be able to tell you more about what happens to prisoners about to be sacrificed. I hope this helps.'

4. Speak to the kobold prisoner 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

Find Grizal on the lower level jail cells on the east side. He is at /way +1223,+94,+418.

You say, 'Hail, Grizal'

Grizal says, 'Unless you're going to unlock this cell door, I'm not [interested] in talking.'

You say, 'I'm interested in your help.'

Grizal says, 'Oh, that's rich. You think you can just saunter up to my cell and ask me for help? You've got a lot of nerve to be asking prisoners for favors without any offer of [mutual assistance].'

You say, 'What mutual assistance do you want?'

Grizal says, 'Did an Ankexfen hit you too hard over the head? I want what every prisoner wants: freedom. I almost got it once. They tied me up and started dragging me off, but they didn't expect my strength. I snapped the rope around my wrists and took out quite a few Ankexfen before they knocked me out. When I woke up, I was back here. I'll happily tell you what I know about your dwarven friends if you do what I [ask] first.'

You say, 'What's your ask?'

Grizal says, 'The Ankexfen learned their lesson and put iron manacles on prisoners now. I need the key to those cuffs. Next time they decide to sacrifice me, I'll wait until they walk me far away from the Keep, then surreptitiously unlock my restraints. Once I'm in the forest, I'll be able to outrun them. What do you say? You help me, I'll help [you].'

You say, 'I'll get the key for you.'

Grizal says, 'Then it's a deal. You're most likely to find a key on the low-ranking Ankexfen that work in the prison -- the knaves and assassins. One other thing: the key needs to be hidden and obviously I don't have pockets. Take this skull that's been sitting in my cell. When you get the key, hide it inside the skull, then give it back to me. The goblins won't suspect a thing.'

You are given: Chipped Skull

5. Obtain an iron manacle key 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

Defeat Ankexfen knaves and assassins until you find an Iron Manacle Key.

6. Hide the iron manacle key inside the chipped skull 0/1 ALL

<>Conjoin the iron manacle key and skull.

Open up the Chipped Skull and put the Iron Mancle Key in it and hit Combine.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Inconspicuous Key Holder.

7. Deliver the inconspicuous key holder to Grizal 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

You offered 1 Inconspicuous Key Holder to Grizal.

Grizal says, 'This is perfect. As promised, I'll tell you whatever you want to [know].'

8. Speak to Grizal about the prisoners 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

You say, 'I want to know about the prisoners.'

Grizal says, 'A group of dwarves were taken away recently. It's hard to keep track of time down here, but I'd say it was mere hours ago. They probably haven't been sacrificed yet, but the time will be coming soon. I suggest hurrying up your plan to free them. A good way to slow the sacrifice down would be killing their [wizards and cabalists]. They're the ones who perform the ritual, and disrupting their numbers means more time for your friends.'

You say, 'I will kill the wizards and cabalists.'

Grizal says, 'Then I suppose this is where we part ways. Thank you for finding that key for me. I hope you can rescue the people you're looking.'

9. Kill Ankexfen wizards or cabalists 0/6 Ankexfen Keep

There are a bunch of Ankexfen wizards and cabalists surrounding the temple in the northeast part of the zone.

10. Tell Thormir you've delayed the sacrifice 0/1 Ankexfen Keep

You say, 'Hail, Thormir Helmsbane'

Your task 'Mutual Assistance' has been updated.

Thormir Helmsbane says, 'Ye haven't found 'em yet? That's a bit troublin', but keep lookin'. Gunder 'n' I are sharpenin' our weapons and will be ready to fight with ye when the time comes.'
Thormir Helmsbane grips his sword tightly and looks into the distance.
