These shared tasks are available during the holiday season as part of Frostfell events that run from December into the first week of January.

M.C. Tinkerton and his Clockwork Party Machine made their debut in 2005. They are located next to the Great Divide portal in the Plane of Knowledge.

You say, 'Hail, M.C. Tinkerton'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hello, _____! You've caught me in a bit of a [bind].'

You say, 'What bind?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'I'm trying to get my clockwork party machine up and running but the dang thing just wont move! Its primary party motivator was stolen by the [Dark Mistletoe giants]!'

You say, 'Who are the Dark Mistletoe Giants?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'The Dark Mistletoe giants are a grumpy old clan that lives in the Great Divide. Their leader, Old Frostbeard, complained my party machine was keeping him up at nights! Bah! The old geezer goes to bed at five thirty in the afternoon! We'd be well within our rights to [steal it back]!'

You say, 'Will you steal it back?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Wait a minute, _____! Steal it back? That's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? Here's what you need to do! Once you return with that motivator, we're going to party like it's 3199!'

From here, you can choose one of three tasks:

Frostbeard's Lesser Minions (for groups under Level 30)
Frostbeard's Greater Minions (for groups Level 30-50)
Frostbeard's Elite Minions (for groups Level 50+)

After completing one of those tasks, you can request another:

Old Frostbeard (for groups 60+)

Frostbeard's Lesser Minions

Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Clan Scouts 0/10 (Great Divide)

Kill Scout Master Hemlock 0/1 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. They are levels 19-21.

Frostbeard's Elite Minions

The Dark Mistletoe Clan lives in the Great Divide. Careful, these giants are well versed in the use of potions and other forms of nastiness. They once put some holly thorns in someone's eggnog and didn't even think twice about it! They're pretty crazy like that!

Venture to the Great Divide and take out 10 Dark Mistletoe Elders. Then give Elder Gnarled Pine a sound thrashing! The gods know he deserves it! When you've cleared those goblins out of the way, you'll be ready to get my motivator back from Old Frostbeard.

Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Clan Elders 0/10 (Great Divide)

Kill Elder Gnarled Pine 0/1 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. They are levels 60-64.

Return to M.C. Tinkerton 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

You say, 'Hail, M.C. Tinkerton'

Old Frostbeard

It's time to get my machine's party motivator back. Look for Old Frostbeard. He stands on a high mountain amidst his summoned storms. He's big and nasty and cold. You can't miss him. Get a group and steal back my motivator.

Scatter five of Old Frostbeard's summoned winds 0/5 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. Old Frostbeard is found on the east side of the mountaintop. He hits for a max ~725.

The mobs in this task summon. The dervishes cast "Blizzard of the North Wind". Old Frostbeard also casts that spell as well as "Gale of the West Wind".

Blizzard of the North Wind: Unknown(32) 100', Cold (-200)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 1375
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

Gale of the West Wind: Single Target, Cold (-200)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 500 per tick
2: Decrease AC by 300

Recover the party motivator and return it to M.C. Tinkerton 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

This drops from Old Frostbeard. On handing it in to M.C. Tinkerton:

M.C. Tinkerton gives you his thanks for returning the primary party motivator.

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Well done, my friend. Let me just slide that party motivator back into place.'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hmm. . .'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Should be working. . .'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zing par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Pri-mary firework cannons: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Gy-ro-scopic dance mod-u-lator: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Par-ty favor dis-per-sal hopper: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zation complete. Beginning par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Whew! It worked! Thanks again, my friend, and have a happy new year.'

Rewards (for everyone in the task):
Experience
Emerald of the New Year

In addition, several chests spawn around the Party Machine and have various items in them (some champagne, fireworks, and invisibility potions).

Old Frostbeard

Any information on Frostbeard spawn? Is he static, random, triggered, etc?
RE: Old Frostbeard
# Dec 08 2005 at 5:24 PM Rating: Decent
he spawns once you have killed all the storms. at least that's how it worked for me earlier today. as soon as 5th storm died he popped on track.
Summoned Frostbeard Storms

Summoned Frostbeard Storms- Even con to level 70, procs/casts an annoying little DoT called Blizzard of the North Wind. Was able to back the casters in the group far enough away to avoid the AE, but still land nukes/heals. Hit for a max of 700ish on lvl 70 warrior. Lots of hps.
Level 68?
# Dec 08 2005 at 8:15 AM Rating: Decent
So let me get this straight: You need to be level 68 to get an item recommended level 65 and required level 55?

You do not need to be level 68 to receive or complete this quest. You may need to be 68 to accomplish this quest (the mobs are high level and strong).

To get the quest, your group must be average level 68. Five level 70's and one level 58, for the extreme example. The level 58 would have to be very careful to survive.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but do you have to complete the first 3 to get the 4th one with the Frostbeard?

I am a lvl 68 bard and only get the 3 other missions, but have not completed the elder one quite yet, just the first 2.

At 70 I was able to get the 4th task (Old Frostbeard) without doing any of the 3 lower level tasks, and I received the Emerald of the New Year (the one with 5 avoidance, 2 mana regen, etc).
Update

Just got my Emerald of the New Year. Killed 5 of the storm mobs and then Old Frostbeard. Had a Cleric Bard Monk and a Warrior. They all cast a slow spell probably 65% slow. Really sucks lasts for about a minute. It is cureable though. I think RGC takes it off. Other then that fights last about a minute and about 2 minutes for the named. Collect the item turn it in to the Gnome guy next to the GD stone and get your Reward. I think about 5 Chests spawn around you too after the Clockwork thing does his dance lol. Got rockets and food drinks etc....The range item emits a Green sparkle all around your body cool item...
UPDATE
# Dec 08 2005 at 3:35 AM Rating: Decent
3rd quest on list is:
Frost Beards Elite Minions
Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Clan Elders
Kill Elder Gnarled Pine
Return to MC Tinerton in PoK

Only one person in group can have the quest
RE: UPDATE
# Dec 08 2005 at 4:21 AM Rating: Decent
Elder Gnarled Pine spawns in random spots. On a 30 minute timer
Is this like Slipgear????
# Dec 08 2005 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
Do all the quests have to be done to get Emerald of the New Year (like Slipgear's Gem) or can i just do the last Quest?
Old Frostbeard

Indeed, return and hail and you get the bauble or higher. :-)

Effect is not very stunning, but then again, it's a seasonal quest.

Most mobs spawn around the mountain covering the shardwurmcaves, though there are also montsters in the luclinspire zone. Hemlock can be there as well.

For the rest there seems to be a link between the mobs of the lower level tasks. Kill scouts and get guardians and the other way around, but it's not the complete mathematic yet.

Done the quest with a monk 62. unbuffed lowest task no prob, hemlock roughly 1800 HP. The guards unbuffed soloable, most at least. Some of the guards have a CH though wich can be an occasional pain. Bossmob singing netty or simular, is not feasible for monk62 solo. Thanks to a kind bard who slowed him and a shammy that casted a few quillesence on me i made it.

Upon searching the location, i ran into a summoned frostbeard storm. Red con, and was hitting me for 880 max obvious went into a fd and didn't bother to check them out further.

sorry server is patching can't log the reward for minor and greater minions, but the reward was good enough to make me decide to replace https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=25554

Were the goblin scouts spawn in GD ?

Clicky is the same on all the levels it appears, so if you just want that, pick a lower level and you'll be able to complete pretty quickly.

This is a scaled event this is only one option. The one I did was kill 5 storms and old frostbeard which was the level 70 version. The mobs themselves suck they have large hit points and proc a aoe super slow. So having RC around is a must if you want to hold aggro as a melee or deal dps. The whole event took me and my wife to each to total time of 1 hour. 20 minutes for mine (lucky spawn set) and 40 for her.
