LOTS 'O FUN!!!

These things killed me twice when I was lower level trying to get to LoIO. Well now the tables have turned. At level 28 I started hunting these things. Yeah the cast alot and can really hash out some damage but with a good group they fall really quick. We started hunting them (28 pally (me), 28 druid, 30 shammy, 30 warrior) and it was a piece of cake. We had the warrior pull to the beach. Once it arrived the warrior and I tanked em while the casters hit em with cancel magic to remove the buffs. Once that was done the druid would barely have time to get off a nuke before they dropped. Not good loot but nice EXP and plenty of these suckers around to kill. Also helps the low levels get to LoIO if there are no Drachnids arond hehehehehehe
Looks good.

At 30 I could easily solo most of these baddies. They look uber cool. Ayone who has ever played D&D would recognize the Drider. They never dropped anything really worth my continual attacks on them though.

OK, I have a level 27 druid, but I keep seeing Uber in all of these comments. What does UBER mean? Oh by the way, these drachnids are pretty cool looking. Thanks
RE: Looks good.
# Jul 20 2001 at 3:55 AM Rating: Default
Uber literally translates from German as: Super (in German, Superman is Uberman).
It originated from the **** supremacy fantasy.
RE: Looks good.
# Aug 21 2001 at 10:07 AM Rating: Default
yeah "uber" must be right below the top on comon EQ words right below: PC, WTS and Port (zone abvreviations dont count to me) i think i should compile a list of the top 10 or so most comon EQ words whatcha think? My mom speaks/spoke german for a while (she isnt german she took it is colloge) and she told me Uber meant "over" but i think super makes more sense (not that it has anything to do with dracs) so to keep it on topic i will say the: "THESE MUTHERF***S SCARE THE LIVING S*** OUTOF ME I HATE HATE HATE EM, I WANNA KILL EM ALL ALL DRACS EVERYWHERE MUST DIE!!!" ok there (that is true BTW i am lucky enought to never have died (prolly becuase i am a pussie and always get an escort) but they still freak me out) also wich ones see supirior camo and one more thin; live from new york it's saturday night(JK) i actually wanted to ask why supirior camo wears out most of the time after 2 or 3 minutes (my divinations skill is low is that is (85 ish divination) i use divine alot so i wonder why it is low) and is 153 wis good for a 22 druid?
Grouping
# Jun 22 2001 at 1:43 AM Rating: Default
My brother was running through the area and he never notices anyone calling for groups there. I'm a fresh 30 paladin and was planning to hunt the Drachnids due to the abundance (positive or negative) of them. Will I be able to find some people to hunt them with me? And is this a good or bad idea?
Hot Chix
# Jun 12 2001 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
So here I was, runnin to Lake one day and I see this hot Darkie! So I strut up to here, check the breath, and the pits to make sure im fresh if ya know what I mean, and I realize shes different from all the other girls...

This dame is half spider!

I really hate spiders so I run away!

Then she gets on her phone (like chix will do) and calls up a few friends, who decided to beat the HOLY HELL out of me!

Lesson to be Learned: Stay away from half-spider women. ******* aint nothin but trouble.

Today, i met a ranger who offered to camo me (as i couldn't get a sow). While taking the stream(river?) route i con all drachnids that were close and all were indifferent. All of a sudden, it wore off...
A silklurker agro'd me and i ran like hell for the zone, i was only half way to the LOIO zone when this happened and 3 more drachnids helped out along the way. I was on my last bub of life and soo close to the zone...-hit, hit, hit, poison!- zone-
finally after i zone, i ended up escaping without a sow, but the poison got me in the end.
with a sow you should be able to get by these guys unless they root you.
Spinner's
# May 25 2001 at 6:26 PM Rating: Default
As a 24 chanter I'm able to kill the Spinners. They are not as high a con as the sight suggests. Root and Burn works quite well, and my Burn's are fairly weak.
BEWARE!!!!!
# May 01 2001 at 9:35 PM Rating: Decent
I am a level 17 monk on Veeshan, I had superior camo and SoW and I had enough faction to con Indiff to FV gaurds (BTW I am Iksar monk...) and while headin back to LOIO I managed to aggro and webstrander and another, didnt get much chance to look before i was easily killed. If u are going in or out of FV, RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!!
RE: BEWARE!!!!!
# Oct 08 2001 at 9:51 PM Rating: Default
I am a 21 monk, and I admit these things worry me, but no monk hunting in LoIO should be afraid of these. if you're hunting there, you should be 17+, and that means you SHOULD have been practicing your feign death. if you can get your feign skill up (mine's about 97 now) don't worry, just feign your way to and from FV.
Invis spell and crossing FV zone
# Apr 19 2001 at 11:16 PM Rating: Default
Currently I am a lvl 19 mage. When Vereant changed the spell component for pets from lapis lazuli to malachite, I was in LOIO w/o any malachite. I thought that I would just go back to FV and pick up some more malachite and get rid of some copper and silver. Everyone told me I would be fine if I used invis on myself. A couple of the drachnids conned indifferant to me, but then another type (silklurker, I think) came over a hill and immediatly attacked me. Are there types that can see invis? Is there any safe route to FV until my faction is high enough to go to Cabilis?
Didn't Bother Us - Thank God!

I, a 20th Druid, was running from the town to Lake of Ill with a friend, 20th Ranger, and we ran through an area with about 10 of these mixed with other Drachnid types. They all conned red and "ready to attack" so we were very carefull not to come to close. We both had SOW so we weren't too scared, but while trying to avoid a running Goblin Plaguebringer I backed into them and found myself very close to them, melee range. But they didn't aggro on me. Just walked by, even when I sat down to memorize a spell, I heard one walk by and it didn't aggro. Now, was I just lucky, or is it because people say they are Druids and I'm a Druid? My Ranger friend didn't get bothered either, but I don't know if he got as close as I did. The only other MOB I've run accross that was red to me and "ready to attack," but didn't was a deepwater crocodile of Oasis of Marr (no longer red of course). I'm certainly not complaining, but I'm wondering if anyone else can share this experience, and if I can trust it to stay that way?

Also..."a Goblin Plaguebringer" needs to be added to the list. Red to Level 20 as is everything in FV. If I knew the level range, I would submit it. I assume around 30 with the other Goblins.

BTW - We witnessed Sir Hobble get wasted by these drachnids in seconds, a level 30 NPC.
damn things
# Mar 22 2001 at 4:16 AM Rating: Default
I was told that with SoW (I couldn't get invis...wish I could, then I woulda been fine), if you are careful you can make it no prob...and if they see you, just run. Well, I was chased by 3 of these and they CAUGHT ME!!! Some things that are being thought right this instance:
1) NO..I wasn't encumbered.
2) NO..I kept resisting the grasping roots
3) Yes I ran in a straight line for the guards

Just a piece of advice for you guys around my level (25)...be very very careful...or pay someone good pp for invis. Don't even need SoW if you have invis. I arrived in the area from LOIO, in full health, and carefully ran towards the guards. BAMN! got stunned (I think one spawned near me) and then got aggroed by 2 more. By the time I was about 5 secs from the guards, I had to LoH. By the time I got to the guards (got rooted at one point after LoH), and the guards took FOREVER to kill the 3, I had less than 2 bubs of health left.
So please, I beg of you...be careful.
RE: damn things
# Aug 14 2001 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
They don't spawn that close to theguards. You must have done SOMEthing to "call down the thunder." Get a group and hunt the damn things. You higerh than me (I 28 Pally) and I've been hunting them since lvl 25. They have crap loot, but decent XP...i would magine even at 30 the eblurkers give decent XP. Anyway, they are allied with Mistmoore..and youARE a paladin....fighitng evil IS your obligationg.

I wonder if the lvl range is a bit larger. When I turned 25 I went to FV to take the boat and conned several. I got one blue, severla blacks and a lot of yellow. Non eof the Drachnids listed should con blue(or black for that matter)
They look at me indifrently
# Nov 30 2000 at 10:04 PM Rating: Default
Its strange but yes they do im a lvl 22 Dwarven cleric and I have no problem going from the Lake to FV or FV to the Lake..........Its great dont have to get a invis everytime i want to go for a town run.=)

# Dec 26 2000 at 5:17 AM Rating: Default
Yes, that is odd. They scowl at me, same race/class. And we can ONLY worship Brell, so it couldn't be diety...perhaps you have managed to adjust your faction?

I was running through Kaladim and saw a dwarf being PLed by a wood elf druid and he was fighting the bard there as you come into the shop section of the city before the warriors arena. Was it you? Personally I'm ready to go beat the snot out of any drachnid whatever me and my group come across. Happy hunting all!!!

Mob dropping from above
# Aug 08 2000 at 4:44 AM Rating: Decent
You might just have seen the pop of mobs. In open area zones the seem to drop straight from heaven. Encountered that in other open areas, too (WC, Everfrost, Qeynos Hills, etc.).

RE: Mob dropping from above

No he doesn't it's a spawn point someyimes they appear that way. In Toxx forest everything sits a couple feet off the ground for 10 seconds before wandering off.
Drachnids
# Jul 23 2000 at 2:15 PM Rating: Decent
I swear these things can walk through the treetops. I had a group in FV and we'd pull one. Up until we'd pull, there would be none in sight on anyside of us. Once we'd pull, 2 secs later 3 of the bastards would fall out of the sky on us. I've seen them well up in the trees before, but this may have just been lag ghosting. But then again, these things are spiders, having them drop out of the trees is not too far fetched, especially on Kunark where the pathing and world detail is so much more advanced.
Train alert
# Jul 16 2000 at 6:21 AM Rating: Decent
To repeat what Fenyear said: be careful about letting one of these get away. Had an all caster group in hte low 30's fighting on hte beach, and since I was higherst (35 wiz) and had the best sheild spells, I was pulling. We were doing fine until I tagged one, and got too far from it too fast. It didn't follow, and we forgot about it. 10-15 minutes later, it attacks me while medding. No biggie, we think, it finally showed up, and we kill it. Sit down to med, another one attacks me...ok, we kill that one too. Sit down...you guessed it, another shows up. By now we are all oom, and I figure the whole danged forest is aggroed on me. So I get a little away from our camp (no sow), and let them finish me off to save the group. I was entirely oom, couldn't even gate at that point. They have a long memory, and tell all their friends...
Easy caster kills
# Jul 13 2000 at 6:35 AM Rating: Decent
My wiz started soloing these at 31, they are a fairly easy kill for casters, if you are careful too make sure another isn't too close to the one you attack. They are casters, and tend not to melee you so much, but they will try. So I just root and nuke. They were a challenge at 31, and I am still soling at 35 when not grouped...now they are easy blues.
These guys arn't ya friend
# Jun 10 2000 at 6:33 PM Rating: Decent
These things will rip ya to pieces if you are a lower lv heading out to Ill omen...my suggestion is to get invis or camo9invis will last longer) and turn on the burns to get to the lake as fast as ya can.

there are actually 3 types of drachnids in FV, the spinner(lowest), the lurker and the strander(highest). Web and Silk are indications of sex, web being male. All are capable of druidic spells (including grasping roots) so it is a good idea to keep cancel magic and sow ready. Drops include urticating hairs, spider silk, drachnid leg tip ( a nice weapon that looks like a sword floating in front of them), and spider silk sac. Rarer drops include gems and jewelry. Typical coinage ranges from less than a gold to over 4 plat. A 35 druid can carefully pull one down to the beach and then kite it easily. However, if you cant kill them and have to run, bring them with you to the guards or they will go back to their spawning grounds and make all the others aggro on you when you return. Recommend camping or zoning when this happens.
