The original Deepwater Harpoon Quest was given by a Paladin Guild Master in Erudin named: Weligon Steelherder and it was to stop the building of a bride from Qeynos to Erudin. Basically you had to find a list of Architects and hunt them down and bring the list and the three heads back to Weligon
The first time I just talked with Sentry Xyrinn (what boat accident?, what potion of marr?). She went up to stand next to the specs, never fought them and dropped this item before despawning. This could be done at level 1. The item was 18/40. The third time I did this, I asked "what boat accident", then gave her the potion of marr. She despawned immediately and said something like "Thank you for the potion. I have been summoned elsewhere". She didn't leave anything behind and didn't fight the specs. The second time I gave her the potion right away, but forgot to cast my faction modifier first so she said I hadn't helped the temple or marr enough. She did the same as the first attempt. The fourth time I asked her both questions, then gave her the potion. She despawned again, said she was summoned and dropped nothing again. When I returned the empty potion of marr to the the temple of marr I got the spell stun. So, to recap - give her the potion and you dont get the weapon. Just hail her and follow the verbal queues and you'll get it. Seems kinda backwards. I did not try giving her the potion before hailing here. Not sure what that will do, but I assume she would despawn. As for the stats, they were 18/40. Never saw 20/40. Perhaps you guys could post a link. Are you sure your not thinking of another item? To make her spawn, just go to sister isle to the little hut by the docks (not the double hut). There is a woman inside named either "Paeonia Purnn" or "Phocaea Hapspenn"- I dont remember which. Tell her "Where is Sentry Xyrinn?". Good luck -Ollex
1. How did you manage to do this with a Level 1 without attracting the Aggros of the Spectres without your Invis Vs Undead spell which is a Level 22 Paladin spell? (Unless you got it casted upon you)
2. How did you manage to avoid the gargoyles which frequently roam the area around there I am told?
I definately plan to take a little trip over there myself soon as I get my spell Instrument of Nife so in case my invis drops I can Nail the Specs with my Ghoulbane providing I long long enough to fight them 3 to 1 is it.
specs agro a few secs after u run in ... and u stand afar and click on her ... when she's no longer on ur cursor u run in ... that's how to avoid gargoyles
Ummm, to all you Kunark Babies out there (ie: ppl who started post Kunark) This is an old, old, old, OLD quest, its been in almost since day one, meant for paladins, it starts in Nfp where you speak to the sentries about one of their missing comrades. Oh yea, and as for those who scream "This sucks" 20/40 owned back in the day, thx.
I just got this thing tonight, via the method described elsewhere where you don't actually hand in any items, you jsut hail her, and wait for her to despawn and drop the harpoon. Mine says 18 dmg 40 dly. What gives?

A Harpoon is a modified Halberd originally and a Halberd is a 2HS in reality. During the development and history of Weapons and sea Vessels many original weapons were alterations of existing weapons or Farm equipment. The first records of a Harpoon was a Halberd with a rope tied to it for fishing in sea water and large Lakes.
And a Halberd was originally a Pole Arm used to attack an enemy on a horse.
Damn, you're an idiot. Drakkel forged BS is not as good, nor BI. Even just looking at ratios and not stats. Mithril 2h is better, but do you have any idea what IT sold for last January. This is a VERY nice weapon for the price (not 1k now, closer to 250pp on my server). Keep in mind, there was a time people paid 100pp for a shiny brass halberd, and that is merchant fodder now. Apparently, the reason you "never bothered" to look up melee stuff, is that you don't play one. If you don't understand it, don't try to discuss it!

not the best damage but the messenger of the queen is a better weapon for a pally with it i am peicing for about 70+ hps and it is a 20/40 +5 wis +5str weight 8.0
Even so, having one of these would allow you to swap it in once a level, until you get your skillups, and the ratio is not that much worse than the MotQ.
And of course since it's only 10000pp or need to be level 50 to obtain, and this is 450pp, and obtainable by a level 20 (don't know why it says 40, if you read the posts), we should all certainly choose the ACG. Sure it's better, but it's not like they grow on combine trees in east commons.
Arbitor's Combine Greatsword sells routinely for 1 to 2k on E'ci. Yes, one to two thousand platinum pieces. If I had the spare plat, I would buy all my paladins in the guild one of these. Btw, the paladin epic cannot be bought, and the stupidity of that post offends me.
This has been updated to pally only, but still has not only a good ration, but a WIS bonus to help mana as well ) not a bad weapon at all. I got mine at level 20 for 500pp
Of course, by the time a cleric would have been able to get this, they would most likely have already quested a Testament of Vanear, or bought a charred guardian shield. No cleric I know would want to use both melee slots on an item with +5 wis. Especially since we have no slashing skills, and would therefore hardly ever hit with this. But I agree, as a pally weapon, looks pretty good.
