Crafter's Charms
By Subira

It came to me one day that
the method to make the
trophies that are made
using pottery could be used
to make a charm that would
enhance one's abilities as
one's skill in tradeskills
increased. In this case,
one will need to make their
own special clay, by
grinding up some special
ingredients and working it
into a normal small block
of magic clay. You must be
sure to make this clay
using the appropriate
toolkit for the trade, a
forge for smithing, a
jewelry kit for jewelry
making, each appropriate to
the skill.

Once you have made the
special clay, you will find
it very similar to the
trophies. Make your
unfired charm using the
special clay, a mounted
jacinth, diamond, blue
diamond, and black
sapphire, with the normal
amount of water to help you
work the charm into shape.
You will also fire it in
the same manner with a high
quality firing sheet, but
you will find that due to
the gemstones on the
unfired charm it is a very
touchy firing. You can
expect to fail every fourth
try, but you will also find
the firing to be an
educational experience.

For alchemist ceramic clay
you will need to find
medicinal moss and grind it
with three burdock root,
bugbane and duskglow vine.

For baker ceramic clay you
will need very finely chop
some steppes reptile meat
and combine it in the clay
with a cup of flour, two
egg batters, a cup of sugar
and a bottle of milk.

For brewer ceramic clay you
will need to finely grind a
basilisk scale in the clay
and mix it with barley,
malt and water.

For fletcher ceramic clay
you will need to sacrifice
a leopard intestine that
would be perfect for a
catgut string, and chop it
up very finely and mix it
in the clay with a clump of
wax and a gnomish heat
source to dry it a bit.

For jeweler ceramic clay
you will grind down some
stonemight silver into a
powder along with a
peridot, and mix it in the
clay with grinding powder
and hydroabrasive.

For mechanic ceramic clay
you will need to grind down
some vergalid slave
manacles and two sets of
gears and mix that with the
clay and golden ember
powder.

For potter ceramic clay you
will actually need to mix
in vergalid clay, a normal
small block of clay and
some golden ember powder.

For researcher ceramic clay
you will need to dry and
grind down drake wing
webbing and a quill of the
arcane and mix that with
the clay and ink additive
of the nameless, soothing
thickener and ink of
prexus.

For smith ceramic clay you
will need the crush some
steppes ore, a small brick
of high quality ore, and
even a file, and mix it
with the clay and a simple
flask of water.

For tailor ceramic clay you
will need a good collection
of silk to mix in with the
clay. You will need wasp
spider silk, spider silk,
spiderling silk, a silk
swatch and silk thread.

For toxicologist ceramic
clay you will need the get
the poison from a razorback
venom sac and mix it into
the clay with soot hemlock,
red hellebore and putrid
bile.

And finally, you can also
make an artisan's ceramic
clay, but for this you will
have to collect all the
harder to get components
from the previous clay.
You will need steppes
reptile meat, basilisk
scale, leopard intestines,
stonemight silver, vergalid
clay, steppes ore, and wasp
spider silk, along with
golden ember powder. This
clay will be attuned to all
seven of the major
tradeskills, and the seal
will adjust itself
accordingly.
