Has anyone seen these drop more than once a month? Did like 15 of em...10 were darn bard pipe, and the rest were augs...
Most I have seen is three in one night.

Yea, during the Double XP weekend, the latest one, I basically spent the whole time in this mission, one after another after another. I was becoming so used to seeing it rot I began to questions the rarity of this item. People say they dont see it in 6 missions, I would say in 16 missions completed, I saw this BP more than half of the chest loots. Most of the rest of the loots were the augs, never did see the shield, and we got one horn once.

There are DoD group progression rewards that are slot 8.
No. Slot 8 is for raid loot. This is from a group task.
All the one groupable RS drops are type 8. And this is much better than grouble BPs that drop there.
Most MPG group trial loots have type 8 slots :)
