What do you do once you have it sharpened? I figure this plus a hilt of some kind gives the Bone Hilted Long Sword.. ?

Take the Rough Sword Blade and some Sharpening Stones to a forge, put them in, and hit Combine. You get the Rough Sword Blade back if you fail, the Sharpened Sword Blade if you succeed. Keep trying until you get it.
